2005 School Success Stories

Chesterfield County Public Schools Receive Friends of Chesterfield ’s Riverfront Watershed Action Awards

The following 19 schools will receive Watershed Action Awards from the Friends of Chesterfield's Riverfront. These schools have completed a tangible stewardship project in the community or on their school grounds to improve water quality, habitat and environmental awareness. Each school will receive a framed certificate and field guide for their school honoring their participation.

These awards are planned to be announced & awarded at a fall 2005 School Board meeting.

Many of the schools listed were partners in the NOAA B-WET grant program in which the Friends of Chesterfield’s Riverfront and Chesterfield County Public Schools trained teachers to plan schoolyard gardens for water quality improvement. These gardens will be used to enhance on site school activities relating to watershed instruction and environmental education.
