At the Virginia Council for Litter Prevention and Recycling (VCLPR) meetings, some of the members expressed a desire to have more professional educational opportunities.  VCLPR members have also expressed a desire to get more programs into the schools.  With these interests in mind, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has offered me, along with three of the litter program managers across the Commonwealth, the opportunity to present and exhibit at the Virginia Association of Science Teachers (VAST) conference in Dulles in November.

Julie May, Stafford County; Brenda Evans, Prince William Clean Community Council; and Jinx Baney, Brunswick County Litter Control will be presenting at the conference with me and will be there to represent litter programs in the Commonwealth.

If you have a litter program that you would like to promote, please design an 81/2 X 11 PowerPoint or word slide to show your litter program in action (a picture is worth a thousand words) and a short descriptive caption about your program. If you would like to contribute to this project, please contact Sheila Barnett at Sheila.barnett@deq.virginia.gov
